 my cat

often a comfort

often asleep

 drizzle

the grass cat comes in

wet wipes

 imagine

not being able to imagine

that i can’t

 anthropocentric

i was in the middle of saying

what beauty is this

 the causeway

something of life’s journey

my wet feet

 the seaside

incessant breath of life

whatever your tide

 one might think

that the sea loved the rocks

so many kisses

 one might think

that the sea loved the rocks

so many kisses

 not remembering

someone who did not die

a right cad

 a sea bird clutches

the rolled eggs of a thought

another tundra

 at the world’s end

a security light will flash on

and off

Friday, 28 April 2023

 anywhere

a cat on a warm lap

is happy

 summer morning

dunnock scratching an itch

in the cosmos

 my affectionate cat

turns her back on me again

true love runs away

 heart breaking a heart breaking

 but of course we are

don’t count the remaining days

or they will fly by

 too many moons

have crossed the sky

sayonara

 yesterday

i walked with the mad monk

through tomorrow

 suburbia

cherry blossoms falling

on the blue car

 iconic

the wish to be an icon

often blocked

Thursday, 27 April 2023

 next door

to the poet’s house

is another house

 eyes widen

the espresso smiles

wink and drink

 sacrifice

picking flowers

in the nettles

Wednesday, 26 April 2023

 a secret garden

where the wind spills

the blossomy things

 snow walking

carrying the spring

in my step

 stone roads

beneath the tree mists

wooden houses

 retired

unsubscribing from life

to live again

 first the camellia

then the cherry blossoms fell

now the clematis

 summer cuckoo

promises and promises

somewhere

Tuesday, 25 April 2023

  many regrets

falling like cherry blossoms

year after year

 new home

on the far side of regrets

misty lake

Monday, 24 April 2023

 sunny morning

off to the doctors

to change my pills

 the night poets

are writing their stuff when

the day poets sleep

 in just one

ten thousandths of a second

i write a haiku

 after

ten thousand haiku

coffee

 hail

no it’s a cherry blossom

storm

all alone

making friends with

a creaking door

 she walked me

through all the wild flowers

saying their names

 thunder puss

it’s OK it’s OK we say

this darkening

 in the rain

the red blocked yard

considering

 heavy rain

the wood pigeon shelters

under its wing

Sunday, 23 April 2023

why

are they all dying

why

 the alert in welsh

i was laughing so much

i forgot to run

 the way of the sea

to distain any sentiment

of death as depth

 artic cold blast

the burr under spring’s saddle

oh dear me forecast

i’m going to do some yoga while it’s having another rinse

 sea filling the bay

in the oneness of a sigh

we are together

 we illuminate

what doesn’t illuminate

trying to see it

 reading the poet

he decided to follow

so many steps

 long is the trail

through night’s perturbations

stars winking at me

Saturday, 22 April 2023

dive into the sea

to write about the sea

a pinch of salt

 a snail

dragging its shadow

up the wall

Friday, 21 April 2023

 the shapely dunes

wearing a green overcoat

but no knickers

 all the sticks

are now covered with blossom

rain forecast

 lonely boat houses

how the sea weeps over you

as the moonlight fades

 cool spring

pot bound again

my hesitancy

Thursday, 20 April 2023

 tea ceremony

the sun climbs the pagoda

as blossoms fall

 all the world is

in a haiku in a world

of poets

 rivers of haiku

over the waterfall

many rainbows

Mauna Loa

the Hawaii garlands

are withering

Wednesday, 19 April 2023

 they keep asking me

why the enigmatic smile

i just smile back

 when morning’s cup

is glowing to the brim

take a sip

 from the other side

the black veil of death

is mercurial

 tender are the names

of all the waiting boats

of the storm‘s tossed

 flowing flowing eye

along the pooled interface

coloured light and sound

Tuesday, 18 April 2023

 the poet

doesn’t own it

you do

 these things

that i am showing to you

were shown to me

 man dies

after van hits barrier

long delays

 the fly

that was sitting on the wall

just landed on me

 ruffling the raffle

the man with the tremor

draws a crowd

 controversial

after one nasty tweet

my router drops me

 on the whole wall

just one teeny weeny fly

and its shadow

 not writing haiku

i can hold my breath but

only for so long

Monday, 17 April 2023

 the poet

after wandering in the woods

told stories

 third mug of tea

the sun arrives on the pagoda

blossoms

 tomatoes planted

summer’s clock is fully wound

the red alarm set

 jennifer said

you take my scooter

i’ll use your bike

 the hands

that squeezed the toothpaste

smoothed the sheets

 pussy cat

pawing through the hedge

have you lost something

 rising

above a hard floor

white clouds

 second childhood

come on follow me

i know the way

 lapping of the sea

all the contraptions of man

that sinking feeling

Sunday, 16 April 2023

 royal ties

time now to recoil

and let the sword of injustice

lance this boil

 and then

so to speak

bleak

became beautiful

and then once again

 evolution

utilises emotion

without emotion

 by the time

i count the fallen blossoms

plums will be falling

 the windmill turns

in japan the blossoms fall

here the buds open

Saturday, 15 April 2023

 after tea

having a pee

in the marsh

 yellow butterfly

even on the cliff path

primroses

 a pheasant!

seeing one pheasant

i see another!

Friday, 14 April 2023

 there’s a white cat

where the daffodils flowered

sunny afternoon

 winter soup

putting in more vegetables

than the pot will hold

 not writing haiku

just noticing things

written as haiku

 winter day

time to make my soup

sleeping cat

 squeaky door

what good company you are

said the wind

 dawn’s early light

all of by blurry thoughts

taking shape

Thursday, 13 April 2023

why

do your tears fall

through my eyes

 coffee time

leaving the window armchair

the sun takes my place

Wednesday, 12 April 2023

 i’ve been sick

and the cat has been sick

long in the grass days

 when two rivers meet

the waterfall grows bigger

many rainbows

 dereliction

nature is the new god

in the old shrine

 rainbow watching

the man with a wry neck

colourful language

Tuesday, 11 April 2023

 unseasonal storm

threshing the plum blossom

a fallow summer

 on a wet day

the walk to the sea

seems longer

the kiss of the rain is an acquired taste

 after

reading an old haiku

a new haiku

 a swimmer

meeting a stormy sea

swims

 the tap houses

across the wooden bridge

by the canal

Monday, 10 April 2023

there are new seats in the cemetery

 long-haired cat

carrying the wind’s chastise

laughing all the way

 high wind

switching on and off

spring sunshine

 butterfly thoughts

such is the life of dreams

through the double doors

 plum flowers

a storm is forecast

harvesting chance

Sunday, 9 April 2023

bee                             (bumble)                  bee

tree                      (white blossom)           tree

sky                            (black)                       sky

 a black ladybird

on the wing of a black car

with red spots

Saturday, 8 April 2023

 across the bay

above the meandering river

three cliffs

 global heating

arguing who is to blame

as time passes

 sparrows nesting

in the wall of a poem

walking on eggshells

 the glowing smuts

from my burning inside eye

spotted in moonlight

Friday, 7 April 2023

 all through life

the unstruck bell of death

reverberates

Thursday, 6 April 2023

 the bells

of the blossoms

fall silently

 a man

in the castle

on his phone

hormones

everything is hormones

high or low

 after my sea swim

i sit in the sunny room

blinking clouds

 maxillary sinus

bringing the sea home

wet welsh slate

 a camellia

and a flowering currant

the shades of dawn

Wednesday, 5 April 2023

 the empty temple

is overflowing with faith

soon they will come

thankfully our cat is too fat to catch herself awake

star gazing

is the universe massive

or are we small

 after leaving

i send you a message

by butterfly

 old age

put it in the diary

and forget about it

 daffodils

beside the dual carriageway

going over mph

 bending time

transplanting his pains

the old gardener

plum blossom time

the painting goes visiting

the tree outside

Tuesday, 4 April 2023

 without hope

the eyes turn inward

darkness waits

 nibbling at the town

tenders on a lapping tide

at the dawn’s languish

 the big little things

the moment of the first light

with the day ahead

 primroses

between the gravestones

spring grasses

Monday, 3 April 2023

 fallen tree

bridging the stream

of time

glass

you can see through it

until silvered

then it can see through you

reflecting on the past

Sunday, 2 April 2023

 the trees are down

now we can see the castle

i preferred the trees

 t t t

two woodpeckers

zoomed past
