 headland bound

over the dawn primroses

the scent of gorse

Sunday, 28 March 2021

 marram grass

when the wind screams

you bend

 poor old pigeon

the one with the deformed leg

just hobbling along

Saturday, 27 March 2021

 a walking man

as small as the sea is large

stops to think that ...

Friday, 26 March 2021

Fathers are the prophets of their pasts

A Neanderthal child’s dancing feet leaves my fossilised brain a-washed with tears

 the cat has taken umbrage

 footfall footfall

the path articulates

our meandering

 it is held

breathless upon the water

this longing

 tell me how is

the change in a memory

remembered

Thursday, 25 March 2021

 morning sunshine

a single thread of cobweb

glittering

 all transplanted

washing my dirty knees

after a short prayer

 grandeur

the word is hurled decaying

before our eyes

Wednesday, 24 March 2021

 the capillaries

of all our inner cities

these yellow lines

 so many masks

and they all fit so well

losing face

 cherry blossoms

children playing pokemon

inside out

 turned down corner

on the tear-stained eulogy

of a foundling friend

 bee hives

a cockerel crowing

primroses

dysphasic

they called it dysphasia

easy for them to say

 the mist escapes

from the jigsaw that is dawn

warming sunshine

 winter gardens

yesterday’s dried tears

iron radiators

Monday, 22 March 2021

 last of the logs

mister spider rushes off

spring cleaning

 fondly remembered

the most terrible of times

rose tinted glasses

 last night’s dream

is waiting for me tonight

i know how it ends

 figs in a blue sky

before the buds have opened

a bitter frost

 frog spawn

all those tomorrows

in our yesterdays

 early one morning

my cat paws the sun door

and you can stay out

Sunday, 21 March 2021

 afternoon sunshine

above the sea grass

a golden dragon

afternoon sunshine

above the golden dragon

honeysuckle buds

 sun on the gorse

thoughts drifting out to sea

almost losing it

 shivery shakes

above the skylark’s nest

memories linger

 the cat

the music

     soft

bread dough kneader

coffee soon

coffee soon

 a hint of sunshine

the flowering currant

blushes

 such enjoyment

savouring the cup of tea

i forgot i poured

Saturday, 20 March 2021

 the fish

in the kingfisher’s beak

looks so sad

Friday, 19 March 2021

 my last haiku is

my best haiku

is my next haiku

 jars of ladybirds

the smell that childhood brings

full of nettle stings

Thursday, 18 March 2021

in the fat factory

the obese vaccinate the obese

why is this is needling me

 kintsukoroi

the golden anagram

cracked me up

tomorrow

we will walk a new walk

but where to?

 bury me at sea

the Mariana Trench for me

use a sailing ship

 buried in the peat

an ancient Buddhist’s breath

the tundra melting

bargaining

with a rough sea

pleas

Tuesday, 16 March 2021

 in the wild garlic

a contraceptive packet

spring’s in the air

 bullet train

slowly on my window

a fly lands

 rushing about

preparing for zoom yoga

ahh - relaxation

 on every wall

in every derelict hole

a sparrow nesting

Monday, 15 March 2021

 vigil

a vomit of flowers

rotting

 apothecary

a few chemicals and you

are someone else

 every bit of truth

captured in my poetry

escapes me

 spring escapes

words are no longer enough

look - just look

Sunday, 14 March 2021

 dead roots

so difficult to dig up

the past

 another world

unknown flora and fauna

behind our fridge

Saturday, 13 March 2021

 before now

there was that photo

you know the one

 springtime

after a long walk

a snooze

Friday, 12 March 2021

 writing a poem

another throw of the dice

it is here somewhere

 brainwashing

remembering the advert

i didn’t watch

Thursday, 11 March 2021

 yee gods

it’s gone dark

flee flee

Wednesday, 10 March 2021

 power cut

all the news stopped

except mine

 a thread of music

running through me and the cat

out into the rain

 mole

caught one as a child

it bit me

disappeared in the leaves

along with my regrets

 saxophone

the cat caresses me

coffee time

Tuesday, 9 March 2021

 that moment

when a moment dissipates

into eternity

 foetality

last year’s leaf

blown away

 polypharmacy

now that i am seventy two

borrowing more time

 on a cold morning

the cat decides to become

undecided

Monday, 8 March 2021

 career choice

our royal correspondent

is retraining

 a water hammer

driving icicles into

my skull

 on hearing

“in about a billion years”

i switch off

Sunday, 7 March 2021

 simply a seat

in a church graveyard

evening sunshine

 i dreamed your

finger all pocked on the end

like a thimble

Saturday, 6 March 2021

 floral tributes

the living die twice over

the cost of conscience

how many have died

here are the football scores

really

 the sun is gone

the cat comes in cold

my shoes are cold

 that song and

i am back kissing the girls

in the daisies

 every morning

a different shadow visits

a different time

      the buds

remembering when

   the apples fell

     died in

now you know

   you didn’t

Friday, 5 March 2021

 such thoughts as are

borne on a march wind

above the sea

 sunshine

above a glistening sea

daffodils

 all that sand

that used to be shell fish

now a beach

Thursday, 4 March 2021

 ventriloquist

no one giving his haiku

lip service

 spontaneity

i’ve read a lot about it

let’s give it a go

 branching out

laughing in a tree house

falling in love

 after the session

rolling up the yoga mat

with poise

then

after a cold swim

warm tea

 ashes

the log fire is cold

again

winter log pile

getting smaller by the day

longer and longer

a pair of tits

buds bursting in the hazel

all over the place

bouncing around

winter tits in the hazel

are so busy

bottom water

the moon loosens its grip

on the starfish

vacuum

almost nothing

is sacred

buds buds buds

a thousand shades of green

the birds are singing

rest in peace

but the obituaries

never do

brighter and brighter

daffodils raise their heads

the rain has stopped

Wednesday, 3 March 2021

 watching the birds

there - a big rat! a big rat!

the cat’s fast asleep
